If you're seeking the perfect blend of ambiance and flavor during your visit to Galiano Island, look no further than Bowline Cafe. Nestled conveniently at 2540 Sturdies Bay Rd, this charming cafe has quickly become a local favorite, and for good reason. Just a stone’s throw from the ferry terminal, Bowline Cafe invites both travelers and locals alike to unwind in its bright, spacious setting adorned with a rustic and laidback decor that embodies the true essence of Galiano.

Step inside and be greeted by a cacophony of delightful aromas wafting from the coffee bar, where the expertly brewed beverages promise to awaken your senses. As Simon Bray joyfully exclaims in his review, Bowline serves "hands down the best coffee on the island," and this sentiment resonates with anyone who has enjoyed a cup here. Whether you fancy a smooth cold brew or a comforting turmeric latte made with organic soy or house-made almond-cashew milk, Bowline ensures every sip delights.

The menu isn't just about coffee, as patrons have the pleasure of indulging in an array of delectable offerings. Picture yourself savoring a smoked salmon and herb cheese open sandwich on freshly baked sourdough, or biting into an Italian meat sandwich paired with a refreshing veggie wrap. Don’t forget to save room for a treat—try the Cold Comfort Ice Cream sandwiches for a sweet finish to your meal, much like J.C. Lee did while enjoying the cafe's inviting lounge area.

Bowline Cafe also prides itself on offering a variety of vegan options, making it an inclusive spot for anyone with dietary preferences, as noted by Sachin Khona, who praised its chilled vibe and fantastic offerings. It’s the kind of place where you can escape your cares, kick back on a cozy sofa, and soak up some great tunes while enjoying a lovely meal.

Service at Bowline can be a mixed bag according to some reviewers, but when you receive friendly service, it adds to the island's warm and welcoming charm. The staff, especially those who bring their personal touch, contribute to the cafe's cozy atmosphere, making you feel right at home.

In a world where many cafes have become generic, Bowline Cafe shines with its unique offerings and commitment to quality. Whether you're there for a brief stop after hopping off the ferry or planning to stay awhile, this cafe offers a little piece of Galiano’s heart and soul. So, make it a point to visit Bowline Cafe, where great coffee, delicious food, and warm vibes await you!

Hands down the best coffee on the island. Doesn’t stop there either, pastries, tarts, great bread and some wholesome lunch options. We ended up coming here more than once on our short trip to Galiano Island.

Lovely bright, open space. Really delicious smoked salmon and herb cheese open sandwich on sourdough, and super smooth cold brew, and then there's Cold Comfort Ice Cream sandwiches for desert! Enjoyed lounging on the sofa while waiting for my order, diggin' the tunes & quintessentially Galiano Vibe -

Chilled spot with amazing coffee, lots of vegan options and a great space to work inside or outside on a sunny day. Lovely staff! Enjoy!

This new cafe is almost literally a stone’s throw away from the ferry terminal. In fact, you can park your car in the ferry line and walk over. The inside is spacious and the decor rustic and laidback. It just opened though, so there’s no sign yet from the road. You can find it just across from Babes in the Woods. We grabbed some Italian meat sandwiches, veggies wraps, and a cool latte before our ferry ride. The ingredients were fresh and tasty, and our latte came with a paper straw and coffee cubes instead of ice cubes. Smart AND sustainable, anyone? They also had a selection of amazing artisan ice cream sandwiches. We only tried the citrus and coriander, but it was bomb. (Check out those ingredients!) Also, not sure what kind of sorcery is used to make them, but the ice cream stays cold and solid for-EVER. Bonus points if you don’t like sticky fingers or extra mess. We weren’t able to try some of the other food, because their kitchen closed at 3pm, but will do so next time we’re on the island. If nothing else, to sample more of the ice cream sandwiches. :)

The service can be good or bad. My first time here (23 Aug 2018 @ 11.30 am ish) the staff (short hair tall woman) was super friendly. My second time here (27 Aug 2018 @ 2.20 pm) the staff (a long hair but shorter woman) was nonchalant to say the very best. The turmeric latte, though, is amazing, you can go with organic soy milk or house almond and cashew milk. Super tasty! WiFi is at 15 mbps, pretty good.

Really great atmosphere. Cute decor, central location. My husband and I both had the breakfast sandwich add bacon and avocado and it was so fresh a flavourful. We each had a hot drink, I had a latte and he had an americano. We sat outside because we had dogs but there was well lit indoor sitting and Free wifi. Enjoy. Only thing that sucked was they were open on the Wednesday we were there, but go have it on the Thursday!

Not sure what I was going to find in mid January. I was pleasantly surprised that sandwiches were quite good. I had balsamic chicken sandwich and ginger tea. Ginger tea is quite strong, so have it with food. A great location and atmosphere.
